What is salvation?
According to the Word of God salvation begins with redemption and forgiveness of sins, and can best be defined as a gift that includes total deliverance from all curses, including death. (From enemies- Luke 1:71, from sins – Romans 10:1, 9-10, from slavery –Acts 7:25, and from physical infirmity – Acts 4:12.)
Salvation comes from the Greek word “Soteria” meaning deliverance, and is used in the New Testament to define material and temporal deliverance from danger and apprehension. Deliverance means a release from bondage, imprisonment and liberation from captivity.
How does one obtain salvation?
Salvation is made available to anyone who turns away from sin, believes in their heart and confesses with their mouth that Jesus is Lord (Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-10). You must act in faith, taking God at His Word in order to receive salvation.
What does Jesus have to do with Salvation?
Acts 4:12 says, “There is no other name named whereby we must be saved ”. Jesus explained in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.”
What does salvation cost me?
The gift of salvation has already been paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ, and cannot be earned through good deeds or by being “good” Ephesians 2:8 -9 says, “For by Grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works (your efforts), lest any man should boast.”
Salvation is Now.
If you are ready for a change in your life that will bring peace and a place of rest and safety, if you desire freedom from fear and bondage and are ready to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Savoir; we want you to know God has been waiting for you with open arms. He is so willing and eager to help you.
Here is a simple prayer to help you get started on your way to a personal, intimate relationship with Jesus:
Jesus I ask you to come into my life and forgive me of all my sins. I ask You to cleanse my heart and make me a new person in You right now. Your Word says, "Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Acts 2:21). I am calling on You. And according to Romans 10:9-10, "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." I do that now. I confess that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. Thank you for loving me enough to die for me. I accept all that You did for me when you shed Your blood on the cross, including freedom from fear, deliverance and release from every bondage, imprisonment and liberation from captivity. I receive You as my Savior and Lord! In Jesus name I pray. Amen. |
